From The Poet Laureate of Section133

We Want The Cup!

Sixty-four teams crouched at the starting line,
only two rounds left out of seven this time.
The ref blows his whistle, the flags go up,
the Union fans churning and burning, they yearn for the cup.

Konopka’s deft maneuvers muscled for our rank;
Okugo burned strikers and left them with empty tanks.
Valdes called reckless and wild made an impact upon his return,
Williams with his potent prowess is secretly stern.

Adu finishes twice with help from Martinez and the flags stay down.
Rochester fans get up and get out of our town.
The Park feels empty except for two Farfans,
still flanking our squad they best that they can.

Herlding has gone away and MacMath has come back up,
and long ago Seattle left with the cup.

Now Jack Mack’s driving and striving and scoring the goals,
while Carroll and Daniel and Lahoud are filling up holes.

Union’s going the distance,
we’re going for speed.
The squad’s not alone;
the cup is all that we need.

Because Hackworth is racing and pacing and plotting our course,
he’s fighting Rhinos and Islanders and showed DC no remorse.

Union’s going the distance.
We are starting to gel; now we need to maintain.

Red Bulls no trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
Backe’s still haunted by something he cannot define.
Now only theUnion, Sounders, KC and Chivas remain.
We are starting to gel; now we need to maintain.

In our hearts and minds we are cheering and making the grade.
We know over time the Son’s of Ben will never fade.
Much luck to theUnion as we travel on this cup laden course,
We will ride off into the sunset and send KC to the golf course
