TONIGHT was the 1st win at PPL Park since June 25th.. and the 1st win in the league since July 17th. Since that time through STRANGE MAGIC the Philadelphia Union have managed to only drop to 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and remain VERY much in playoff contention. STRANGE MAGIC!
TONIGHT was the 1st official appearance of 16 year old Zachary Pfeffer with the Philadelphia Union in a league match. I know I am a fanboy, but I can honestly say that even sans a goal it was a BRILLIANT debut. What more could you ask for? (Besides A Goal) He proved that he is capable beyond his years and willing to fight for EVERY single ball. The most important part of Zach’s debut was that he commited NO mistakes on the pitch. The most impressive play (to me) was not his shot on goal, but his pressing the Columbus defenders every single time they took possession.
TONIGHT was the 1st time in 2011 that I felt like I was watching the Sebastien Le Toux of 2010. Do not take this the wrong way. Le Toux has hustled every single minute of every single game in 2011. He has managed to rack up 8 assists (Team High) and with tonight’s goal he managed to rack up 7 goals (Team High.. Who the Fuck is Carlos Ruiz!?) in what some have seen as a disappointing year. TONIGHT Le Toux just played as if the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders. He looked like a man that wasn’t playing in his OWN shadow. He played like the great UNKNOWN that he was in 2010. I don’t study French, but I am pretty sure LE TOUX is French for THE SAVIOUR!
Will we make the playoffs? I am going ALL IN.. FUCK YES! Are we scared? FUCK NO! What do we do now? We repeat the mantra (with feeling)… IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! IN NOWAK WE TRUST! C’MON THE U!
