Philadelphia Union v. Colorado Rapids

Roger Torres Says Goodbye To El Pescadito

18,770 witnessed one of the most bizarre nights yet at PPL Park.  If you were like me you showed up to PPL Park completely OBLIVIOUS to the fact that Carlos Ruiz had left the team because the Philly Supporters hurt his feelings.  Things just seemed to get weirder as the night went on.

The First Half:  It wasn’t our BEST 45 minutes, but it wasn’t our WORST 45 minutes in fact it seemed like it would only be a matter of time before we scored on the Rapids. How did things turn out?  We had two HUGE defensive lapses and went into the locker room down 2-nil.

The Second Half: Can someone explain to me why Keon Daniel and Kyle Nakazawa were subbed out while Justin Mapp was allowed to stay on the pitch?  I liked seeing Roger Torres take the field, but I would have preferred to see him subbed on for Justin Mapp who was HOPELESS.  (Dear Justin Mapp, Please don’t quit the team because I criticized you on the internet)

The UNION finally seemed to come to life in the second half, but strangely it seemed to occur in the 65th minute AFTER we went down to 10 men thanks to a straight red card to Sheanon Williams for foul and abusive language.  You would never have guessed that Philly was down to ten men.  They played out of their minds! The Union created not only enough chances to draw level in the match… they actually created enough chances to take the lead. Sadly chances aren’t always converted into GOALS.

The Philadelphia unbeaten streak at PPL Park has been lost and three points have been gifted to the Colorado Rapids.  We could hang our heads, but I would rather look on the bright side.  We are still sitting on top of the Eastern Conference and have one game in hand.

It will be 7 Clubs for Ruiz since FC Dallas in 2008. I’m sure it’s just the Sons of Ben and other fans of the Union that caused him to leave the club.

  2. DeezNutz says:

The SOB’s need to get a grip on themselves and YES, I am holding them all responsible. They turn into bigger jerkoffs as time goes on. Last night was an absolute disgrace at PPL all around.
