WWC: USA v. North Korea

USA Soccer

21,859 people filled Rudolph-Harbig Stadion in Germany to see the USA kick off the group stage of the Women’s World Cup against North Korea.  No word on how many of those fans were Chinese actors pretending to be North Korean Supporters

The first half was played to a stalemate.   Both teams were trying to feel each other out.   The US had virtually no game footage of the North Koreans to prepare for their opening match of Group C.

The US came out INSPIRED in the second half.  Lauren Cheney (Assist by Wambach) opened up the scoring in the 54th minute.   Rachel Buehler (Assist by Lloyd) put the game out of reach with a goal in the 76th minute.

In North Korea’s defense they played AMAZING football for a team that was recently struck by lightning

The USA and North Korea have played 4 times in group play at the Women’s World Cup.  The USA lead the series with 3 Wins, 1 Draw, and 0 Losses.
